Professional and personal development to gain employment

Job Journey is a course designed to help unemployed people become work ready. During their job journey, participants gain a clearer vision of themselves, a deeper understanding of the workplace, potential options available to them, and the knowledge and skills to use technology to help them in their search for work.

This interactive and transformational course offers tangible skills and tools, equipping participants with an increased confidence and hope for a brighter future. The 13-day course runs over 3 weeks with up to 20 students at a time.

We aim to run the course 10 times a year to try to keep up with demand.

The course covers a wide range of high impact information, skills and attitudes to help students enter the job market and gain meaningful employment:

Understanding who I am and what I can offer
Improved ability to speak English with confidence
An understanding of the workplace and the attitude required for success
Enhanced IT skills for the modern workplace
Practical skills for job interviews
Setting up a personal email account and using it contact employers
A high quality CV with covering letter
Publication of the CV with online services and apps supported by Cape Town city authorities
Support to contact employers

Impact

Significantly increased confidence in engaging with the job market
Most of our graduates have started their own business or found secure employment within 2 months
Many secure significantly better jobs than they had previously even considered applying for
Recognition from the city council, who now promote our course
Partnerships with a variety of local and national businesses who proactively choose to recruit from our graduate pool, based on their experience with our previous cohorts
