SEWING PROJECT

Back in 2017, ten sewing machines and yards of fabric were donated to a group of women in Tambo Village, Cape Town. That original donation sparked a new social enterprise which is now open to all ages and abilities enabling them to sell the crafts that they make. With this comes the commitment to train new attendees in sewing and craft skills in order to generate income, improve self-esteem and foster community.

This social enterprise strikes at the heart of a new economic transformation in South Africa, where small businesses are springing up run and owned by those who are members of it. Our aim is empowerment facilitated through the equipping, enabling and championing of the creativity of the African woman.

Products created are sold in the local, international and online markets. To ensure success, we mentor and train the ladies not just in sewing and craft skills, but also in business skills, financial management and IT.
